Choose Tensel when the same sovereignty has to run a backend. The two platforms make the same European promise on the same foundations, Scaleway plus a European CDN. The difference is scope: Tensel runs applications, not only sites.

We only have static sites today. Why pay more?
Don't. Static sites on Tensel are free on every plan, unlimited, with no metered delivery. The comparison changes the day you add a backend. That is the workload deploybase says it does not run, and the one Tensel is built for.
Aren't you both making the same sovereignty claim?
Largely, yes, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise: both platforms are European operators on Scaleway in Paris with European CDNs and documented subprocessors. The difference is what runs behind the claim. Static files there, full applications here.
They have an MCP server. Where is Tensel's?
Tensel's answer is skills that drive the CLI: eleven ship in the npm package, they hold no token, and every read command emits documented JSON. There is no hosted MCP server today. It is a different design with the same goal, and it means a credential never leaves your machine.
